Pentan Partnership operates a flat practice structure in which all staff can contribute according to their abilities and experience. The four founding directors lead two groups, based on two directors per group, with each group based on their individual area(s) of expertise. Andrew Hole and Stephen Thwaites lead a group dedicated to housing, supported housing and re-investment and refurbishment projects; whilst John Carter and Jim Dale work mostly on housing, especially extra-care housing; and care projects (care homes, day care centres, health centres & cottage hospitals). This two directors-per-group structure ensures that there are always two pairs of experienced eyes dedicated to each project; and this helps to ensure that each and every one of our designs is the product of rigorous thought, based on considerable experience.
Each group also contains at least one Associate Director (either a senior architect or a senior technologist) and several architects and technologists, to ensure that all projects are provided with the right blend of skills, to suit our clients’ varying needs. The three Associate Directors within Pentan Partnership are Ed Green, Andrew Lewis & John Needham. Although the two groups structure described above constitutes the carefully-thought-through modus operandi of Pentan Partnership, regular inter-group working (with an appropriate ‘exchange’ of personnel) ensures that knowledge is disseminated and experiences are shared throughout the practice.
Above all, we recognise that we are only as good as our last project; and we are always striving to improve!
