Ledbury Community Care Centre

“A cottage hospital saved, and more” is our client’s description of this project – and rightly so ! Our award-winning design provides a 13-beds cottage hospital (to replace the existing, out-dated hospital), out-patients’ and minor injuries facilities, a doctors’ surgery, a pharmacy, a 60-beds care home, including an acquired brain injuries unit, offices for social services’ staff and a crèche – all on a site of the old cattle market in the heart of historic Ledbury. Working closely with local Planners and with English Heritage, we were able to successfully ‘stitch’ what is the biggest building in Ledbury into this setting and, thereby, locate these much-needed community facilities at the physical heart of its community.

Our working method involved the participation of the existing hospital and surgery staff, to design a building that is tailored to their needs.
