West Sussex

Our work on the development of a 60-beds generic care home to West Sussex County Council’s demanding brief, that was capable of ‘shrinking’ to 40-beds and ‘expanding’ to 90-beds, helped our client to win this highly-competitive PFI project. Sixteen existing residential homes have been replaced with twelve new homes and day care centres.

All twelve are based on a generic design that is closely based on our competition-winning scheme that has proved to be adaptable to changing briefs; and to varying locations, sites and topographies. Working in partnership with the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University on natural day-lighting and stack-effect natural ventilation across all of the projects has demonstrated the value of the energy-saving measures that are integral to our designs.
