A 40-beds care home, the very compact form of which enabled our client to re-use an existing site. (They had been searching for over a year to find a suitable site, before we showed them how they could re-use what they already had.)
This compactness of form of what proved to be a larger-than-domestic-scale building in a low-density residential area also helped us to substantially reduce the over-shadowing of adjacent properties and, thereby, help to allay the fears (and the objections) of our client’s neighbours. (Our sunlight/shading analysis proved to be invaluable in this respect.)
The central, south-facing courtyard garden, around which all of the residential accommodation is wrapped, has proved to be very popular with both residents and staff.
