Care Home & Close-Care Flats

Our second project for Hafod Care Association, this 60-beds care home and 15 close-care flats complex, is located on the site of an existing residential home for the elderly. The care home will provide specialist dementia-friendly accommodation; and, designed in accordance with principles evolved by Stirling University’s Dementia Services Development Centre, it features a ‘wandering loop’ circulation spine and a ‘memory’ wall/gallery at ground floor level. The residential accommodation is wrapped around an external secure courtyard garden and an internal atrium. At ground floor level the latter provides a relatives’ meeting place and information centre. The 15 close-care flats promote independent living for the more active elderly.
