Applying our knowledge of the Ledbury Community Care Centre project this development replaces a much-loved but out-dated cottage hospital and long-past-its-best health centre with a new 14-beds cottage hospital; a residential respite centre for the younger, physically disabled; a GPs’ surgery; and 29 extra-care flats and associated communal facilities. Once again, this multi-headed brief has resulted in the biggest building in its community; but it was successfully negotiated through the Planning process with a public exhibition and with detailed massing and environmental studies. Since opening it has become a community building in the truest sense of the word.
